
Siemens Sensors, Room Thermostats and Measurement Devices
The first link in the control chain is measurement. A badly placed sensor invalidates the entire control strategy.
Sensor selection is driven by measuring point, range, signal type (passive NTC/Pt1000 or active DC 0–10 V) and mounting form. For room thermostats, the system type (two-pipe / four-pipe), fan speed control and valve output type govern the choice. Haustech Mekanik selects and supplies Siemens sensors and thermostats according to the system being installed.
Sensor placement
A room sensor goes at roughly 1.5 m height, away from direct sun, draughts and heat sources. A duct sensor mounted too close to a mixing point reads a false average. On immersion sensors, pocket depth and thermal paste determine measurement lag.

Frequently asked
What is the difference between 2-pipe and 4-pipe thermostats?
In two-pipe systems a single circuit provides both heating and cooling, so the thermostat must detect changeover or receive a central signal. In four-pipe systems heating and cooling circuits are separate and the thermostat has two valve outputs.
